Lolita coord for Midsummer Scream :) First time to the event, and it was super fun! When my friend started talking about going earlier this year, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to figure out what I could do with my LeMiroir Skeletal Remains jsk. The embroidery is so beautiful!! But while I was super into gothic fashion as a teenager who wasn’t allowed to buy it, as an adult my wardrobe is still very much not gothic, so this jsk felt like my first big foray into a darker style. Very intimidating, but even more exciting!
My first shot at styling was with a basic black blouse from taobao, plain black tights with Mary janes, and not much else! It was way too plain, I didn't even have a headpiece! But it gave me a starting point. I sewed together a bow to pin on front and got 3D rose tights. Messed around with a few different headpiece ideas before eventually giving in and buying a basic black horn base to customize. I painted them to have more realistic colors and a more matte texture, and finished off with ribbons and trims to make it look more elegant. Originally planned to add bells to it as well, but I got convienced out of that by a friend (;´∀`)
Changed it up one more time before the convention! Got a black petti since the white one was just too visible, and my academy bag in black from Cotton Candy Feet came in! A fantastic event bag, if anyone was wondering, perfect to hide water bottles, handfans, and a parasol haha. Replaced the black ribbons on the blouse with the same red from the headpiece to tie them in more. I kept feeling like there was just too much black and trying to bring in more color, but Im not sure that replacing the ribbons was quite the best move, if only because it made it so visible how often theyd come untied (。ŏ﹏ŏ) Followed a gothic makeup tutorial on YouTube to finished things off since makeup is not something I touch too often.
I was really proud of how all this came together, and my friends loved the look too, so it's all a win! \(^o^)/
Next time, I think I would like to try this JSK with a red blouse, or perhaps something more sheer for the tights? Now that I have one way to wear it down, I want to explore more, and more gothic looks overall( ^ν^)My inner teenager is so happy! See mom, it's not just a phase!
Happy Midsummer Halloween, everyone!

Suiting Up for Her
Part 1: By Her Side Part 2: At Her Place Part 3: At Her Work Part 4: There For Her
Kara puts on a special suit for Lena p.s. I have no idea why I wrote this!
Kara studied herself in the full-length mirror. This felt good, strange but also very good. Despite what people thought, mostly Alex and her friends, she wasn’t as oblivious as they all probably thought she was when it came to women. In fact, she had noticed and remembered quite well how Lena had looked at her that day the CEO had marched into the CatCo offices with an armful of red roses to stake her claim. And since she'd deduced that Lena liked seeing her in a man’s shirt and a jacket it was only fair that she'd indulge her girlfriend’s desire in that regard further. Thus, calling in a favor or two, she’d ordered a new suit to be tailored for her. Not a super-suit, but a real suit.
Buttoning up the blue waistcoat of her newly acquired three-piece suit she grinned at her reflection. It was of the same blue color as her Supergirl suit in fact and that was by design. Lena would love this and hopefully be suitably shocked. Fixing the red tie which she’d picked out because matched the color of her cape, she adjusted the knot. When it had come to tying the actual knot, YouTube had been a big help and she decided that she might write an article about it later.
Taking her hair and pulling it up into a tight bun, she then fixed the golden cufflinks that adorned her pressed white shirt. With her hair done up and cufflinks ermm cufflinked she looked at herself from the front and the side smoothing the shirt and vest down over her breasts. The pulled-up hairstyle looked good she decided and putting on her thin-framed glasses she took a deep breath. What she was planning to do would be a first for her, and she didn’t want to mess it up.
“Miss Luthor, I’m here to pick you up for our date,” she said, practicing sounding more like Supergirl while being Kara Danvers.
“Hi, I’m here to take you out,” she said, testing out another version of the line, and tried making her voice a little bit deeper.
“Lena, would you come with me please?” she asked in an even deeper voice but then broke down into giggles.
Shaking her head, she pulled on the dark blue jacket that completed the look and buttoned one of the buttons before deciding against it. Leaving the jacket open, she carefully folded up the matching red pocket square and stuffed it into the breast pocket of the jacket. After a bit of a fight with the crimson piece of silk, she finally got it the way the YouTube tutorial had said it should be.
“No big deal, picking up Lena in a suit that’s all,” she reminded herself and sat down on the bed. A bed she’d shared with the green-eyed genius on three occasions already and the sheets still smelled of Lena’s perfume and other aromas. Blushing at the thoughts the smells aroused she cursed her stupid super senses.
Pulling on a pair of dark brown shoes over her red socks, she laced them up tightly and began giving them a good polish because she wanted to look her very best for Lena today. The raven-haired CEO had been so good to her over the past few weeks and even though they were Facebook-Official now, which had freaked Alex out, she felt like she owed the woman a grand gesture.
Finishing polishing up the shoes she grinned at the memory of Alex showing up at her apartment the morning after she and Lena had made things official. In Alex’s defense, her sister couldn’t possibly have known that Lena would be standing in the kitchen in only an old worn and stretched out Midvale High t-shirt and with one sock on and to Lena’s credit she wasn’t fazed at all when Alex had pulled a gun on her. Speaking of stretched out t-shirts. Oh yeah she loved that her girlfriend was busty!
Her calling from the bedroom for the raven-haired beauty to get her fine behind back into bed because she wanted seconds. That had in Alex’s words scarred her for life and no amount of good whiskey, graciously provided by Lena, could erase that memory from her sister’s mind.
“I can do this, I’m Supergirl, I can do this,” she said to herself in the mirror and adjusting her belt she grabbed the car keys from the nightstand.
The car she'd be driving was J’onn’s car, which she managed to fast-talk her space-dad into letting her borrow for today. Since she couldn’t very well fly and carry Lena while wearing a three-piece suit. Picking up a single red-rose, picked from a garden in France and carefully flown across the Atlantic, she checked herself in the mirror one more time. Satisfied that she was sufficiently suited-up, she drove to L-Corp with butterflies in her stomach.
Parking outside the L-Corp building she fixed her glasses in the rearview mirror and steadied herself one last time. Time to be bold Danvers, time to be bolder than you’ve ever been in your life! She thought to herself and got out of the car drawing the attention of a few passers-by.
The elevator ride felt like it took forever but the secretary smiled at her and waved her inside. When she stepped into Lena’s office, the mind-numbingly pretty CEO was hard at work, with her hair up in a messy late afternoon bun and those stunning emerald eyes focused squarely on her laptop. Holding out the rose she cleared her throat and pushed her glasses up on her nose before she spoke.
“Come here often?” she asked and instantly wondered to herself why that was the first thing to come out of her mouth.
“I think you could say I live…” Lena replied with a smile, but the words died on those red lips when the pale-skinned and raven-haired beauty looked up at her. “...here,” the stunned CEO finished.
“Well I think…” she started off sounding too much like Kara Danvers but then she stopped herself and tried again.
“Good thing I'm here then, I’m here to take you out to dinner,” she declared while sounding as firm and in command as she could muster under Lena’s piercing green-eyed gaze as she held out the red rose trying not to shake.
Lena in response, looked her up and down like she was a snack. The woman’s green eyes were appreciative of the blue suit she could tell but that unyielding gaze made her stand up straighter. Come to think of it, probably the only thing straight in that office right then and there was her posture.
“Is that so?” Lena asked playfully and pushed herself back from her desk.
With the CEO of her heart uncrossing her smooth legs, she could see that the woman, she'd somehow lucked into dating, was wearing a form-hugging black pencil skirt with a white blouse open at the collar and a matching black vest.
“Yes, and no ifs or buts about it,” she replied but struggled not to grin and then not to drool at what Lena did next.
“Feeling forceful this afternoon, are we?” the raven-haired CEO asked while undoing the messy bun holding her hair up and shaking all that lustrous, soft, and dark hair free.
“Yes, now close that laptop and get into my car already,” she playfully ordered the green-eyed genius. Who responded by sauntering up to her and plucking the rose from her hand.
“Or what? You’ll pick me up and carry me over your shoulder downstairs past all my employees like I've been a bad girl?” Lena teased her back and put one hand on her arm while raising her eyebrow suggestively.
“Don’t tempt me,” she countered the woman's teasing and flexed her bicep under that gentle touch. This was too much fun but it was also making her feel hot under the collar. Oh and she finally got what that saying meant!
“What if I like tempting you?” the green-eyed temptress asked innocently and brought the ruby red rose up to her cute nose for added effect.
“Then I’d say be careful, or you'll get what's coming to you,” she replied, purposefully lowering her voice an octave and letting her hands fall on those shapely hips.
“Oh darling, we both know that you...” Lena started teasing her again but she had no intention of allowing the brilliant and beautiful woman to finish what she'd started saying.
Leaning down she captured those wonderfully red lips in mid-sentence and thoroughly kissed the girl of her dreams while pulling her in closer. The rose dropped to the floor and she could feel those pale hands pawing at the front of her suit and then with a content sigh, Lena let her win. Running her fingers through all that soft dark hair she growled and Lena whimpered into the kiss. Pulling away only when the raven-haired beauty had been kissed to within an inch of her life and was left sufficiently breathless, she flashed her own version of a cocky grin.
“As I said, we’re going out. So close that laptop and get in my car... now,” she repeated herself and the reaction from Lena fried what few functioning brain-cells she might have had left in her head after that kiss.
“As you wish, daddy,” the green-eyed goddess replied demurely and breathlessly as she batted those long and dark eyelashes up at her.
Lena glided back over to her desk with a sway to her hips that was hard to ignore. She closed the lid on her laptop while making damn sure to bend over suggestively as she did so. Then turning back around the stunning woman walked back up to her with that same hypnotizing wiggle to her snake-like hips and fixed her tie with those soft and pale fingers while humming. Finally, the CEO of her heart adjusted her glasses and wiped away the smudges of red lipstick from the corners of her mouth before flashing her a smirk.
“I love the suit by the way,” her girl purred and brushed her hands down the front of the blue waistcoat then pulling away right before her fingertips reached the belt.
“I thought you might like it,” she replied, now feeling very cocky and offered Lena her arm which the still grinning woman took with an uncharacteristic giggle. She had no illusions about this, however, Lena would always be the boss, but being in charge every now and again felt nice too.

Because @grxnadxs deserves all things good and euphoric~
BoA & Haneul
“Red, I’m home. You’re officially off babysitting duty.”
“Good blazes. It’s about time you showed up. Small Fry is ten times the handful now that he’s walking and talking.”
BoA laughed softly while being handed the twin girls as the pirate had made them corny paper pirate hats for them to wear. She had no doubt that once all her little ones were old enough, the pirate lord would take them all a ride on her ‘special’ ship.
After setting the girls down in their cribs for their afternoon nap, she decided to try and find her son. It was normal for Red to lose the little boy who was becoming more and more like his mother every day. Energetic and mischievous. Wondering if maybe he wanted some cuddle time with his mama, the tiny queen ventured into her and her husband’s bedroom only to find something very interesting.
“Hi, mommy!”
“Taekwoonie----What are you wearing?”
BoA had walked in on her son rummaging around her husband’s dresser drawer that held all of his ties. Having picked out a flashy red one, the little boy had tried to wear it like a lady’s scarf. He was wearing his Iron Man t-shirt and dark dress jeans to go along with the tie.
“I’m gonna go to work with daddy tomorrow, mommy!”
“You are? Does daddy know about this?”
“Nope! I’m gonna surprise him!”
The tiny mother was now crouched down in front of her son smiling in amusement. She had no idea what caused her son to come up with such a plan but it was hilarious all the same. If it wasn’t for possibly embarrassing her son, she’d take a picture right here and now to show her husband. Deciding to figure out what was going on here, she asked casually,
“So why do you want to go to work with daddy tomorrow? Is Auntie Red no fun anymore?”
“Nope. Auntie Red is funny. I like her. But I heard daddy talking and I think he’s sad. And when daddy is sad, mommy is sad. And I don’t want mommy to be sad.”
Even though her son’s logic was a little winded, she had a pretty good idea what he was trying to say. The other night, her husband had confided in her once more how he feared he would have no heirs to his company. She had done her best to comfort him and reassure him but of course in the end, they would allow their children to do whatever they wish with their futures.
“Okay. Then let’s both surprise daddy in the morning, okay?”
“Okay! Roger that, mommy!”
The next morning, the two had cooked up a plan and when it was time for the businessman to come down and join his family for a quick breakfast, he nearly fell backwards out of the doorway to the kitchen when he saw the sight in front of him.
Standing side by side with each a lunch box in hand, were his son and his wife. His son donning that same red tie as yesterday which Haneul had briefly noticed went missing this morning. That same Iron Man t-shirt, but instead of the dressy jeans he had on yesterday, BoA opted for him to wear a pair of black dress pants she often had him wear for red carpet events. Oh, and the tie was tied correctly this time by BoA herself. He really did look like quite the proud son as he stood there with his matching Iron Man lunch box.
Meanwhile, the queen had resisted the urge to dress more.....risque and settled for a long pencil skirt and tucked in, conservative blouse. She was holding a Wonder Woman lunch box that their son had got her for Christmas last year. He had told her that he and his father both thought she was the real Wonder Woman and it nearly had her in tears that Christmas morning.
While the little boy was racing towards the car his dad would have normally been taking by himself, said father leaned over to his wife and asked in an utterly confused tone,
“Is he feeling okay?”
“Yep. As far as I know.”
Taekwoonie’s first day at ‘work’ was an amazing one. For everyone involved. The staff loved him. Some commenting about how they hadn’t seen him since he was a baby while the female staff cooed and swooned over him. Telling him that his Iron Man t-shirt was super handsome. Of course they were all old enough to be his mother but in his young mind, he was the real ladies man.
Back in his office, Haneul was trying to focus but his wife had other ideas. “Bo---I need to get this document filled out and you’re distracting me.”
“Babe I can’t help it. You’re so sexy when you’re concentrating.”
“Yah stop touching-----”
“Mommy! Daddy! Christine showed me how to use the copier!”
Haneul was thanking his lucky stars. One more move from his wife and he was going to lose all self restraint and that only spelled trouble. Smiling warmly at his son, he said happily, “That’s great, Tae! You’ll make a great business man someday!”
“Like you, daddy?”
It had him stopping in his thoughts. The words were lost on him as he sat there in his seat; staring in awe at his son. Did he really think of his father that way? A great business man? Clearing his throat and composing himself, he nodded and said happily,
“Here. Sit in the big seat. Check out the view from here.”
“Whoa! I can see everything! I can see our house!”
“Yep. I see the city every day. It’s really cool.”
“Can I come to work with you tomorrow too, daddy?”
And that was the queen’s cue to get another playfully naughty jab in there as she leaned on her husband’s shoulder and asked sweetly,
“Yes, daddy, can we come back again tomorrow?”
Good lord. These two were going to be the death of him.
Tiffany & Jin
“Babe, I’m home.”
“I’m in the kitchen.”
Jin slipped his shoes off as well as his coat and yes----It was now very plain to see, or rather smell, that the fairest doe was definitely in the kitchen. Curiosity getting the better of him, the male padded into the kitchen to see what was up.
This house. It was abandoned. Had been for years, perhaps even decades. So naturally it needed a lot of work. Tiffany took what money she had saved up and used it to buy supplies. It was then that the two of them went to work on fixing up the inside of the house but left the outside a mess. Why? So that no one would know they were squatters. Yes. They were squatters. But they were living the best lives of their lifetime.
“How’s my blogger babe?”
“Good. How’s my handsome private investigator? Crack that case you’ve been working on?”
It was perfect, really. Tiffany had taken the advice of her boyfriend and started up a blog where she shared her baking recipes and makeup tips. Of course she couldn’t give video tutorials for fear of being recognized but people still flocked to her blog. If only they knew they were fangirling over a girl they normally knew to hate and despise. It was bittersweet and yet felt like sweet revenge all at the same time.
Meanwhile, Jin wasn’t exactly on the police force anymore, but he was still getting to somewhat live the dream. After convincing his girlfriend that he could physically handle a gun again, he went and got a concealed carry and got his license to carry under his fake ID. The great thing about being in the police force, he knew all the tricks and knew how to avoid getting caught.
It wasn’t the white picket fence type of dream, but for them it felt just as fulfilling. They had jobs they loved, a roof over their head that had long paid for itself and its repairs, decent cars that they parked in the rundown attached garage. But now that things were falling into place, Jin had more.......domestic things on his mind lately.
“Dinner smells great but.......I want dessert first.”
“Jin. I have to watch the over. You don’t want the chicken to burn, do you?”
“No. But I’m more interested in this oven.”
She had been typing up an article for her blog when suddenly her fingers slipped on the keys and she nearly lost the whole page worth of work. Blushing heavily to where she could feel it on her neck and tips of her ears, she swallowed dryly and felt her boyfriend’s hands lovingly caressing her stomach.
“J---Jin---What are you talking about?”
“Oh come on, Tiff. You know what I’m saying. Let’s make a baby. I think it’s time.”
“But----”
She wiggled around in his hold so that he was no loner giving her a back hug. Instead they were now facing each other with the fairest doe’s eyes wide and full of worry and concern.
“But this is no life for a child. We’re still hiding from the world.”
“True. But we’re making it work. Think about it. People would have even lesser of a chance recognizing us if we had a child with us. And I’ve already thought about schooling. We can home school them. And we wouldn’t even need a babysitter because you already work from home. Think about it, babe. You know this can work. All you have to do is say yes. You’d look so adorable waddling around the house with our baby growing inside you.”
She had to admit, she wanted a family with him. But they weren’t even married yet. Sure she wasn’t a stickler for tradition but still. If she couldn’t have her original dream life, then she could at least have some of it. And being married was part of that. So like any couple would, she decided to compromise.
“Fine. I’ll give you a child if you give me a wedding ring.”
“Deal. I’ll fly us out tomorrow and BoA noona and Haneul can officiate our wedding.”
“You’ve been thinking about this.........I can tell.”
“Yep.”
Ivory & Taeyong
“I can’t believe we’re really here. In Paris. On our honeymoon.”
“I am just as surprised as you are, my love. Twas very generous of BoA to lend us her whole chateau for our honeymoon.”
The two pale immortals were sitting at the patio out on the balcony while sipping on some blood wine. Of course it paled in comparison to each other’s blood but it was nice for a change as well. Ivory would never forget that fateful night where her lover asked her to marry him right before she sunk her fangs and venom along with them into her lover’s bloodstream; successfully turning him into what she was. A vampire. A child of the night.
Of course she would marry him. She wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of her eternal life with him. And now she could. The wedding had been beautiful and perfect despite it being such a secret. Neither one of them had blood family so the only family that attended was the rest of the sisterhood along with their lovers. It was still a beautiful day all the same. Well......beautiful night.
“I had no idea Paris was so beautiful at night. I mean I had seen pictures in magazines that customers brought in but they aren’t anything like the real thing.”
“Indeed. BoA spoke of how breathtaking the sights are at night time.”
“I can’t wait to live the night life with you every night, Ivory. I really don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it.”
The pale royal smiled over at her husband and felt herself glow with happiness. Something told her she wouldn’t get tired of it either. This eternal adventure with her husband. Her soulmate. Her everything.
BoA & Sungmin
“Yah. Stop laughing, noona! It wasn’t that funny.”
“Aigoo. I can’t help it! I told you to be careful when getting out of the gondola.”
Soaked. They were absolutely soaked and smelled like fish but the tiny queen couldn’t help but laugh her royal butt off. Especially when a small fish had flapped and flopped his way out of the male’s hoodie. Well the hood of his hoodie. Giggling, she said in great amusement,
“Your hood makes a great fishing net.”
“Noonaaaaaa. Shush it!”
It had been her first ever gondola ride. Ever. And it was one she would never forget. And there was no one she would have rather spent it with. This boy----This young man......he......he had changed her life forever. But did he even realize it? Probably not. But still, she was grateful. So very grateful. There he stood in all his embarrassed glory trying to ring out the water from his precious hoodie that he refused to toss for a new one.
They had taken the ride and it was perfect. They got to see all kinds of cool things about Venice since she had stated that Paris was getting boring again. Not to mention she wanted to lend her sisterhood sister Ivory and her new husband Taeyong her vacation home for their honeymoon. It all worked out great.
Until it was time to get out of the boat to let a new customer take a ride. Of course she was pretty sure the young male was the only one who saw it as a bad thing but she had a blast splashing around in the water. She had told him to be careful but the male had lost his footing when the boat rocked a bit and down they went. Or rather over they went. Even the gondolier had a good attitude about it; offering them help to get out of the water despite the fact that he too had fallen in.
“Come on, fish boy, let’s get back to the hotel and get dried off.”
“Yah. I like stupid face better. Go back to that one. It’s less embarrassing.”
“How about fish face?”
“Noona!!”
“Okay okay.” She laughed so hard she had to wipe a tear from her eyes while she lead the way back to their hotel. They had the perfect view. But of course the queen had insisted only the best for them and she wasn’t going to settle for anything less.
Life was getting better. Easier. Progress was slow but progress was progress no matter how small. She was slowly but surely gaining proper weight and getting good reports from her doctor in Paris. It felt like it was getting easier to breathe with every nod of approval her doctor gave her.
Not to mention she felt herself getting closer and closer with the male walking next to her. She wasn’t sure if he was doing better himself but if his change in attitude was anything to go by, she could only hope he too was improving. Since when had he become ten times more handsome than when they first met? She had no idea but it made her heart flutter.
Hatshepsut & Aedon
“Look. Are you sure this is a good idea? What if those god guys find out you’re doing this?”
“Those fools are stuck acting like musical nerds traveling from city to city. There’s no way they can weasel their way out of performing their musical duties and tracking us down.”
In other words, the Egyptian gods masquerading around as VIXX were currently stuck on tour in Japan. Little did they know that their punishment for the spoiled brat of a pharaoh may soon be coming to an end.
Egypt. She was going back home. Or at least what was a modern version of her home. And boy did it look different. This was definitely not what she was expecting. Buildings that were similar to ones back in Seoul only not as grand as Korea’s. But she wasn’t interested in that part of Egypt. No. She was after a different building.
A pyramid.
Her pyramid.
Her tomb.
After her private jet landed at the airport, she rented a car for them to take before having to make the rest of the travel by camel. Of course this didn’t bother her any, but it was quite amusing to see the male struggle a bit. She had to admit, when Aedon insisted on coming with her, she couldn’t quite understand why and he wasn’t up for sharing. Just shrugging and claiming he was bored and needed something to do.
It had taken a lot of sleepless nights but she had finally managed to track down what she believed to be her tomb. Her final resting place. It was odd thinking of it that way. Being alive and all and planning on visiting what was essentially her grave. But she had to do this. She had to know who she was. She was tired of living under another pharaoh’s name. She wanted her real name back.
There it stood. The structure she knew to possibly be her tomb. It wasn’t as large as she had hoped it to be but beggars couldn’t be choosers, right? Stepping closer to the huge stone doors, she felt the male walking close behind her. He had remained oddly silent during this time. But soon enough, they were traveling deep into the tomb.
“Shi-----”
The male never got to finish his curse as torches suddenly came to life; lighting the latest room they walked into. There it stood.
Her sarcophagus.
During their adventure through the tomb, she had yet to find anything that might indicate what her name truly was. As part of their plan to try and make sure the queen couldn’t track down her origins, they had wiped any knowledge of her reading hieroglyphics. So in the quiet hours of the night, the woman had secretly been re-teaching herself her own alphabet. Now it was time to put it to use. Finally.
Rushing up to the casket, she started to shove at the lid when the male came rushing up behind her shouting in nervousness, “Hey! Wait wait! What are you doing?!”
“What does it look like??? I’m finding out who I am!”
“But----What if-----What if you’re in there?”
“That’s ridiculous. I can’t be in there because I’m standing right here in front of you. But there might be clues in here that tell me who I am.”
“Listen......Hatshepsut......I know you want to believe this is your tomb, but what if it’s not? And besides, who cares what your real name is? You’re a great amazing woman just the way you are. It doesn’t matter who you were back then. What matters is who you are now.”
Well dang. When he put it that way.

Self Conscious
Collection: Tim and Annie
Year: 1967
Characters: Annie Thompson, Timothy Turner
Content Warnings: Discussion of negative body image, body shaming, weight talk
Rating: T
Style: Prose
Summary: After Danny’s birth, some of the things Kenneth - and her mother - said about her body come back to haunt Annie. Annie struggles with the way her body has changed.
Kenneth used to comment on her body make her feel bad about not having a flat stomach, and her Mother too. After the baby she has even more of a tummy, along with stretch marks and hyper-pigmentation.
Annie had felt self conscious about her body to start with… and then she started dating Tim. She gets so anxious about him touching her stomach in particular. Whatever muscle tone she had is gone, she’s squishier than she was before, as her Mother’s friends used to sneer.
It actually makes her feel a little sick. He kisses her stomach and she tells him to go away.
Tim is so worried and confused. He sits up on the edge of the bed. “I - okay. Do you - did I do something wrong?”
He didn’t even kiss her skin, he’s been lying with his head in her lap and kissed over her pyjamas on impulse.
She didn’t have a problem with it when she was pregnant, and it was the easiest part of her he could reach from his position.
Annie shifts uncomfortably. “Not wrong? Just uncomfortable with that.”
“Oh,” Tim says, expression clearing a little, even though he still looks a little worried. “Um - having my head down there, or the kiss, or…?”
Annie curls up a little, her arms going around her middle.
“I feel gross….?” she shrugs her shoulders a bit.
Tim frowns even more. “Like… sick? You’re not in pain, are you?”
Wondering if she’d developed a hernia or something. It can happen sometimes
She shakes her head.
“I saw myself sideways in a mirror…..Daniel is more than six months old, I should have lost the weight already.”
Tim opens his mouth to respond and then closes it again. He doesn’t even know where to start with that.
“I - What. No. You *shouldn’t have* done anything at all other than recover and enjoy time with your baby.”
Annie looks at him and he can see her walls being placed. “That’s sweet of you to say Tim. But I need lose the weight. Get my body back.”
Her tone tells him she doesn’t want to keep talking about it.
He wants to argue with her, but will respect when she’s telling him she’s done talking about something.
"Do you want me to take the spare room tonight?” He asks her instead. Sometimes she does, when she needs space.
Annie nods and ducks her head.
Tim smiles a little and pats her ankle once before getting up .“Of course. Yell if you need anything.”
He pulls on his dressing gown and slippers to go next door. “See you in the morning.”
“I love you.”. Her voice is quiet
“I love you too. So much.”
He gives her a dorky little wave and slips out of the bedroom. He always hopes asking him to sleep in the guest room isn’t a Big Thing. He doesn’t want to seem upset. He’s not mad. He just wants to give her space if she needs it. It doesn’t have to be some big drama. And he’s adamant that it’s never done in a fight. There have been nights when she needed space initially but ends up waking Tim up when she slips into the spare bed with him.
It’s a few days until her body image issues come up again. She’s rushing around looking for a blouse that she swore was in the closet. So she’s in just her jeans and a bra.
Tim wanders into the bedroom doing up his tie. “Are you sure its not in the laundry bag still? Remember Danny spit up while you brought it in to be put away?”
He stops short, seeing her half undressed does things to his insides.
He doesn’t mean to look but he really can’t help it.
Annie goes pale when sue realizes he’s looking at her and grabs a tshirt to pull on quickly.
Tim frowns and reaches out to take her hand, but let’s his drop when she turns away from him with a short “I’ll go look.”
He stands still when she just brushes past time out of the room. He feels terrible.
They don’t get the chance to talk until later that night. He’s been mulling it over all day, all through his classes and tutorial.
She’s cleaning up the already tidy living room when he snags her hand and pulls her down to the couch with him.
“I’m sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable this morning.”
“I wasn’t dressed.” Annie huffs a little and wraps her arms around her middle. Looking a little like she might pick a fight.
“I know, I should have kept my gaze down. I wasn’t thinking. It’s just….you’re gorgeous. I got distracted.” he tries to give her little grin.
Annie makes an upset, angry noise. “Don’t tease. Don’t - lie to me.”
Tim looks at her startled. “ I’m not–what do you think I’m lying about?”
Sure he was exaggerating about the distraction a bit.
“I’m not - gorgeous,” Annie replies, body held tight and tense. “I’m not anything. It’s cruel to make fun.”
“What? Why would you think I’m making fun of you? You absolutely are gorgeous.”
Tim’s just, it’s not in him to think like that.
She finally turns to face him and she’s crying a little and her face is all scrunched up. “Stop /saying/ that! I know you’re trying to be nice but its not *working*. I’m - I have too much of a stomach and stretch marks and marks all over and I need to be *better* than this.”
Tim just looks at her. Not sure what to do.
He stands up and holds his hand out to her. “Come with me.”
She eyes him warily
“ Humor me?” He looks at her and wiggles his fingers.
She sighs, exhausted, and lets him take her hands. She just wants to hide.
He leads her up to Danny’s room, where the little boy is sleeping soundly.
He moves her so she’s standing in front of the cot and he moves behind her, wrapping an arm around her and putting his hand on her stomach. When she tries to move away from him he kisses her head and just holds her tighter.
“Tim, please.” Her voice is just a whisper.
“Your body brought this wonderful little boy into the world.” his voice is just as quiet.
“Six months ago,” she counters “More than.” she adds bitterly.
“Only.” he replies. “Your body grew with him, every stretch mark is a sign of that.”
Annie swallows.“He’s out now.”
“He is. And he has a beautiful mummy who focuses her time and energy on him.” Tim kisses her head.
Annie closes her eyes and shakes her head.
“And,” Tim continues, “Your body keeps *you* safe, feeds you and helps you grow, and I love every inch of it. I love all of you so much.”
Annie let’s herself lean into him.
“I don’t.” she whispers, voice breaking.
Tim kisses the side of her face. “Oh love… I do. So much. I wish you did.”
Tim turns them and guides them from Danny’s room. “let’s leave him sleep and go talk.”
Annie wants to protest. But she knows Tim won’t let it rest.
She sighs and lets him lead her to their room.
Tim sits down resting his back against the headboard and Annie does too, pulling the covers up over herself. He turns his head to look at her, sees she’s trying to make herself seem small. Trying to hide.He just wants to pull her close. He wishes he could make her see how he sees her
How much he wants to be with her. All of her. How much he’d still want that even if her belly wasn’t from pregnancy
She’s never been stick thin. Even before she was pregnant. And Tim found her insanely attractive then. He’s in love with her for her. He feels very out of his depth.
He shifts down on the bed so he’s laying down more than sitting up and lifts his arm. “Come cuddle?”
Annie sighs but lies down, her head on his shoulder. Taking the covers with her so they’re between their bodies and she’s still bundled up in them.
Tim wraps his arm around her shoulders and shifts a little bit so he can kiss her head.
“You are the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met. And if I have to tell you that every day for the rest of our lives, I will.”
Annie sniffs and presses her face into his shoulder.
“I just… can’t see it,” Annie mumbles into his shirt. “All I can see is… a mess.”
“I wish you could see you through my eyes.” His arm tightens around her.
Annie manages an exhausted chuckle. “Me too,” she admits
She still can’t totally believe him. But she does believe he could love her *despite* it

Marathi Style Saree

Want to know how our peeps in Maharashtra style the saree in India? This awesome Marathi style saree is also known as the Nauvari saree drape. Among regional dresses, this dress highlights a lady’s curves. If you’ve seen Vidya Balan dancing on ‘Mala Jau De’, you’d have an idea about what this dress looks like.
These are few steps you should follow to wear the Marathi Style Saree correctly-
Take around one meter fabric in your hand and loop it around your back, while the rest of the length lies on your right. The bordered edges of the fabric are to be tied securely at the waist.
Gather your pallu and bring it over to the front from the back, and fix it over the left side of your shoulder, like for any normal saree style. In the next step, we’ll take care of the loose length that needs to be out of the way.
Start pleating with the loose fabric! Make 4-inch pleats. Settle in on around 8 to 9 pleats. Tuck these in at the navel.
Thee pleats now need to be taken from between the legs to be tucked in at the back. There’ll be a double borderline at the back.
The last step is to drape the pallu elegantly. Take it from the back to cover the shoulder and then it has to be strategically tucked in at the waist on the left side.
Gujarati Style Saree

Ever seen Gujarati saree draping styles? If you’re familiar with bright colors and gota embroidery, you would know plenty about Gujarati sarees as well. Read on to know how to style the gujarati saree-
Tuck the end of the saree at the right side of waist and from there, take the loose length of the fabric around the waist to the back side. Tuck it in fully.
Tuck on the left and the remaining fabric should be taken around and brought to the front.
Take the pallu and make pleats. The pallu should flow from back to front. That is basically the Gujarati style. Secure with pins on blouse.
Remove the tuck and make box pleats. These pleats need to be tucked firmly at the waist. Pin it using safety pin.
You can turn your attention to the pallu. Take one of the pleats and drape it over the bust so that the entire area is covered. Keep the fabric tightly stretched and secure it with pins.
How to wear saree in South Indian style

Your Kanjeevarams will not look good stowed away in your closet. Wear sarees in beautiful south indian style by following these basic steps-
A 6 yard saree will do for this style. Take 1 meter of the fabric, take it around your frame rest and tie a knot at the centre at your waist.
Take shorter length of fabric and make pleats. Take it between the legs and tuck only one edge of the pleats at the back. The rest of the width should be taken to the left side, and the last pleat should be tucked at the front.
The saree at the front should be bunched again and taken at the back, between the legs. The border edge at the back could be tucked in and the rest of the saree should be brought to the front.
Drape pallu over left shoulder and drape it across the front from the right so that it could be tucked at the waist. The borders on the right and left side of the saree should be at the same length. And you’re done!

On the whole there aren’t a lot of general clothing patterns I’m too excited about (they are mostly simple silhouettes that focus on the recent boxy ruffle trend), but for cosplayers and costumers this release is an absolute goldmine. Let’s take a look:
8380 – Cynthia Rowley. I actually really like this dress, even though it has a fairly simple style and asymmetric neckline. Pockets are always great, though it may need some extra length if the model photo is any indication. The peplum top is also catching my eye here as well.
8382 – Learn to Sew. Pretty simple sack dress. I can see it being very easy to wear for summer, and very easy to sew, though I don’t find it particularly interesting.
8375 – Pattern Hacking. This is Simplicity’s latest line, where the envelope has one pattern and teaches you how to change it. There seems to be accompanying tutorials on their YouTube channel. Most of these seem to be fairly simple styles, though I will say that I could see this dress/top pattern being a popular choice because of it.
8376 – Pattern Hacking. More simple looks.
8377 – Pattern Hacking. I’d actually be tempted on this cardigan if I didn’t already have pattern in this style.
8378 – Pattern Hacking. Possibly the mist interesting of the line, as this one adjusts not only the length but the shape of the trouser pattern as well. Could be really interesting and informative.
8379 – Easy to Sew. Interestingly draped potato sack dress. It isn’t my style, but I could see this being a popular and easy summer sew.
8383 – Easy to Sew. Another style that is pretty basic, but on trend with the open shoulder and ruffle sleeves.
8384 – I actually sort of like the lines on this shirtdress. The deep-V neckline is pretty flattering.
8385 – More tops that are super on trend. I don’t think I need them in my collection, but these styles are probably the most on-trend for summer.
8386 – Easy to Sew. I actually really like this pattern collection. The white top especially. Definitely one that I need to add to my summer sewing list.
8387 – We’ve had similar styles in the past.
8388 – Moving the ruffle trend to the bottom half. Personally I find the skirt looks a bit bulky and heavy.
8389 – Easy to Sew. Nice simple elastic waist pants variations, should one need elastic waist pants.
8390 – Easy to Sew. The front pants with dart shaping in the back. Definitely has a “I’m so totally on vacation right now” vibe going on.
8391 – I’m sort of obsessed with the nautical inspired shorts in this pattern. Even though I know I have Burda pants that are super similar. But I think I need this pattern anyway, because I’d probably wear that simple t-shirt too.
8392 – Mimi G. Mimi G. expands into the exercise realm. I’m not sold on the skirt/leggings thing (it looks restrictive to motion) and the sports bra looks… unsubstantial. The mini hoodie is cute, but I don’t know how absolutely practical it is.
8394 – Mimi G. A vintage inspired look from Mimi G. Not something I’d want to wear, but I can see it being popular with those who like to go for all the vintage inspired patterns.
8393 – A nice simple wardrobe pattern. I could see all these pieces being completely practical, if not entirely exciting. But, as many of us learned from the Wardrobe Sudoku contest, simple plays well with others. So, I’m going to say this would be a great pattern to make a lazy days summer wardrobe with.
Assorted Kids styles. The dress/romper (8395) is pretty cute. Lots of American Girl branded stuff this time too. I’m thinking the AG bag pattern (8400) could be a great way to get kids into sewing, and some of the bags do look large enough to use for school.
Crafty Stuff. The giant cat pillows (8403) are more than a little adorable. Like, a lot. The American Girl doll clothes (8397) are pretty cute too, especially those shorts!
8396 – “Cosplay” Dress. The description and styling are clearly meant to interest those in cosplay, but really, it’s just a dress. I see what you did there Simplicity. Trying to get the cosplay community buying your wider collection of sewing patterns. Anyway, even if you aren’t a cosplayer, this could be a nice princess seamed dress. Personally, I’ve got a lot of those in my collection already, but this one does have nice lines.
8404 – Disney Cosplay. The New Belle costume for adults. Looks like a great interpretation. Love the attention to detail on the skirt. I’m really loving the costume licensing, so that the companies can recreate looks, rather than skirting around the issue by changing one or two things.
8405 – New Belle for kids and dolls. Adorable.
8406 – Classic Belle. I love this, I want this, I need this. Totally my child hood right here. Looks like I’m going to be buying a lot of Belle at the next pattern sale.
8407 – Classic Belle for kids and dolls. All the Belles. I’m going to be getting all the Belles.
8411 – Obviously referential to the amazing Highlander costume, this American Duchess pattern also holds up to historical snuff. The inclusion of some critical underpinnings is great too. Definitely joining Belle in my basket.
8409 – An Arkivestry Steampunk pattern. Half the time I love these, and half the time I leave them. I think this in one I can leave. Though there is plenty of great detailing on this pattern, it just isn’t something I need for my costuming in the near future.
8408 – Another Arkivestry steampunk pattern. I do actually really love the vest details here, so this one might follow me home on my next pattern sale run.
8410 – MangoSirene. A new partner with Simplicity, MangoSirene is a popular cosplayer. They have teamed up to create their own version of the popular Pokemon Go! game design. That cropped jacket is still totally adorable. I still totally need one.
100501 – MangoSirene. This is another MangoSirene cosplay pattern, those this one appears to be an online (and possibly convention) exclusive. The blazer looks great though – nicely fitted with really classic lines.
The other summer release that came out simultaneously is New Look. Like Simplicity, I find most of the lines and styles to be quite simple.
6507 – Popular shoulder ruffle looks. I’ve gotten enough of these with Burda. Could be a good option if you want a really simple ruffle dress look.
6506 – I really like the button back dress (the model version) but it looks like it would be a total pain to get on or off. Hmmmm. Probably a pass.
6509 – Interesting cut-out romper Not sure it’s for me (I’ve got so many others I’d rather make), but ventilation could be fun on a hop summer day. The great thing is that the rest of it is so covered it really won’t need a shirt or anything under it, though, presumably, you could do that and have an interesting peek-a-boo contrast at the waist.
6510 – Simple shift dress. Nice a lightweight looking, but nothing really exciting style-wise. Would look great under a jean jacket though.
6511 – Giant ruffle peplum top. I’ve already got wide hips, so this inverted triangle look would be doing me no favors.
6512 – This is actually another fairly trendy looking pattern. I’ve seen lots of this style of dress being promoted for summer this year.
6513 – Top with some interesting pin-tucks. Could be nice for those who like this aesthetic.
6514 – Some long, lightweight cardigans. These also seem to be quite popular this season, and there are some interesting options here that allow for color blocking and other creative additions.
6515 – Some variations on pants/culottes for summer. Nothing wrong with them, but nothing overly exciting either.
6516 – A toned down ruffle skirt. Must say I much prefer this to the other the top ruffles from Simplicity, though neither is really my personal style.
6517 – Fairly simple tunic/dress/pants wardrobe pattern. Also looks like it comes with a scarf?
6518 – I can’t tell if this is supposed to be clothes or pajamas? Anyone? Thoughts?
6519 – This tie-front dress and blouse could be cute, or it could look like a rumpled disaster (as evidenced by Burda’s fabric choice in their latest magazine). I’m voting possible yay here, though, since I am getting the Burda, I don’t know that I will need both patterns in my collection.
Kids. Nothing I’m super excited about here, but these do look like simple styles to make for those who will rapidly outgrow them.
And that’s it! On the whole I’m not overly excited by the majority of everyday where in this release, but, then again, I’m not overly excited by the general trend that have been happening lately either, so there’s that. The cosplay looks are bang-on and I want them all. New Look usually has 1-2 looks I go for, but this release feels like a miss to me. What do you all think? Is the release so late in the spring/summer game that we’ve already committed ourselves to other ruffly designs? Or are these looks fairly dull? See any must buys? And what are we thinking about Simplicity’s new Pattern Hacking line? And which of all y’all am I going to have to beat away from those Belle patterns, because I know that pattern drawer is going to be empty when I get there and I am not going to be happy ’bout it. Feel free to discuss in the comments!
Simplicity and New Look Summer 2017 #sewing #Simplicity #NewLook #patterns #summer The latest looks from Simplicity and New Look have been posted to the Simplicity site. On the whole there aren't a lot of general clothing patterns I'm too excited about (they are mostly simple silhouettes that focus on the recent boxy ruffle trend), but for cosplayers and costumers this release is an absolute goldmine.

Since When Are Compliments A Bad Thing?
Since When Are Compliments A Bad Thing?
Summary: Who would have thought receiving compliments from your favorite angel would be so frustrating?
Word count: 1,854
Pairing: Castiel/reader
Warnings: Nothing really. Fluff, mentions of sex, but no sex.
It started innocently enough. After monster guts ruined yet another outfit, you had gone to Target to restock. You mainly got the basics (plain tees, plaid shirts, and jeans), but you also indulged in a nicer blouse. It was still machine washable and it paired well with jeans, but it was just a little more feminine and made you feel nice. You were putting your new purchases away in your room in The Bunker when you got a text. Sam had found a new case and would meet you, Dean, and Castiel in the bunker library in 10 minutes. You put on your new blouse before heading over.
Castiel was already there, looking at some of the titles on the shelves to pass the time.
“Evening, Cas,” you greeted him and walked over to the table.
“Good evening, Y/N.” He cocked his head to the side as he looked at you. “You are wearing new clothing.”
“Yes, thanks for noticing!” You were a little surprised would Castiel was aware of changes to wardrobe given that he never seemed to change clothes himself.
He looked at you intently and you patted down your hair thinking something was wrong. “The cut of that shirt accentuates your features nicely and the color goes well with your eyes. You look beautiful.”
If you were surprised before, this kind of compliment had you floored. “Th-thanks, Castiel.” Before either of you could say anything else, Sam and Dean came in. Dean with a stack of newspapers and Sam with his laptop open already going on about the disappearances of family pets in a nearby town. How did a coyote constitute a case? Suddenly, you were deep in conversation and the moment with Cas was over.
The case turned out to be pretty interesting. For months, waves of the same kind of pet would go missing. First, lizards; then a few weeks later, cats; a few weeks after that, dogs; and now, the ponies at a petting zoo had been cleaned out. Was this a witch or was someone making sacrifices to something? And the animals kept getting bigger. Would whoever was doing this start going for humans? It was time to get moving and start asking questions.
Days later, you were sitting in the backseat of Baby with Cas while Dean pumped gas and Sam ran inside for drinks and snacks. You were singing along quietly to the tape Dean had in without even realizing it. As the song went into a musical break, Cas spoke. “You have a lovely singing voice.”
“Thank you, Cas.” You could feel the heat in your cheeks. Just then, the front passenger door opened and Sam’s gigantic hand was reaching back to hand you your soda. Dean came in a moment later and you were off to the next stop. You wondered about Cas’s compliments. You had been attracted to the angel since you first met him, but he didn’t seem interested in you, or anyone else, like that. So you harbored your crush silently and kept it professional. You could handle adoring his sweet, yet fierce nature from afar. That is, until his recent words made you start thinking there could be room for more. Is that even what they meant? From a regular guy, a sudden increase in compliments would indicate interest. With Castiel, angel of the lord, were these just observations? Was he trying to emulate some aspect of humanity? You needed to ask him about it the next time it happened.
The rest of the case kept the four of you busy and there were no more compliments from Cas. Once the coven had been stopped from summoning a truly heinous creature, you all headed back to the bunker for a rest and to await the next inevitable crisis.
The Impala didn’t get into the garage until well after midnight so no one did more than mutter goodnight before retreating to their rooms (except for Cas who did whatever it is he does at night). After sleeping in until a decent hour, you were well rested and ready to celebrate. By the afternoon, you were in a heated debate with Dean about which bar to go to that night and unwind. Dean was arguing for the one with pool tables while you wanted the one that served boozy milkshakes. Sam piped up by suggesting bowling. You and Dean locked eyes before turning in unison to give Sam a look that made him put his hands up and back out of the room. It was just the kind of ridiculous you all needed. It was settled that you’d all get dinner at the place with the boozy milkshakes, since they were more like a gastropub, and then move on to the bar with pool tables. They weren’t that far apart. You conceded to bowling in a couple of days. You actually liked bowling, it just wasn’t the vibe you wanted for tonight.
Back in your room, you started picking out an outfit. The blouse that Castiel liked seemed an obvious choice, but since he already complimented it, would he mention it again? You decided to try and provoke a response. You matched your jeans and blouse combo with a pair of heels that made your ass look great. A couple of YouTube make-up tutorials helped you achieve a rather polished look that still looked casual enough for pool later. Not too toot your own horn, but you looked gorgeous.
Popping your lipstick into your handbag for touch-ups later, you walked out to the center of bunker activity, the library. Castiel was alone in the room and appeared to be checking his reflection in the blade of a sword on display. You watched him adjust his tie and pat at his hair.
“Looking good, Cas.” Might as well lead the conversation where you want it to go. Cas spun around and you watched his eyes take you in. Your skin tingled like you could feel his heated gaze go from your feet to your legs, pause at your breast, and then continue up to yours lips (another pause), and finally your eyes. That was most definitely a look of hunger and you couldn’t hide your smirk.
“Y/N, you look incredibly sexy.”
You didn’t expect him to be so blunt, but at least his interest was clear. You grinned, put your hand on your hip and kicked it out. “So what are you going to do about it?”
A wave of confusion passed over his face. “Do?” You had gone beyond his understanding of flirting.
Before you could explain, Dean strolled in clapping his hands once and rubbing them together “Who’s ready for some stupid milkshakes and totally awesome pool?”
Castiel turned his attention to Dean and once again the moment was lost. Ok, no problem, you told yourself. You have all night to get things back on track.
You never would have predicted things would go so right and so wrong all at the same time. Every moment the two of you were alone, Castiel would compliment you on another aspect of your appearance or personality, but you were always interrupted before you could respond. You were beyond frustrated. It was nice to know Castiel sort of felt the same way about you, but it was driving you up the wall that you couldn’t say anything back to him without making a scene in front of the Winchesters. He was obviously keeping this between the two of you and you honestly didn’t want them watching and commenting on the first few moments of whatever this thing was going to be. It was almost like Castiel was purposely timing it so you couldn’t get a word in. After that thought struck you, you waited for the next one. Dean was at the bar getting another round when Sam excused himself to use the restroom. You braced yourself and from the side of your eye, watched as Castiel looked to the bar, noticed Dean turn back your way with a pitcher, and then look to you. He stared intently at your mouth before saying “That shade on your lips suggests they would taste sweet.” Sure enough, two second after he finished talking, Dean was setting the pitcher down on your high-top table and asking where Sam had gone.
A rage fueled by sexual frustration and alcohol filled your being. You spat out, “He’s in the can. Castiel and I need to step outside for a moment. We’ll be right back.” You no longer cared about making a scene and yanked Castiel by the arm towards the door. He was certainly surprised, but he followed. In the back of your mind, you knew there was no way you could be doing this without him letting you do this. Once out in the cool night air of the parking lot, you took a couple of steps away from Castiel and took a deep breath to steel yourself for whatever was about to follow. Turning on your heel, you faced him.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing, Cas?”
“What do you mean?” That damned confused puppy look again.
“Showering me with compliments!” You whisper shouted, still not really wanting anyone else to hear what you had to say. “Telling me I’m sexy and that my lips look sweet, but not doing a goddamn thing about it! And you only say this shit when I can’t do anything about it either!”
“I thought giving someone compliments was considered nice.” He maintained in his normal tone and volume which at this point was the most annoying thing he could possibly do. “And that comments of a sexual nature were only to be expressed between the parties involved.”
“Yes, but why the hell would you make comments of a sexual nature without actually wanting to have sex with me?!”
Castiel closed the space between you one movement. He was suddenly so very close and you could smell his scent, like detergent and electricity. His too blue eyes bore into yours. “I do want to have sex with you.”
You held your ground, even pushing your chest out a bit. “I’m not a sculpture for you to admire. You need to interact. Touch me, hold me, kiss me!”
You sucked in a breath as Castiel’s hand came up and brushed the hair from your forehead. His hand moved to the back of your neck and stopped. His other arm snaked around your back. Unconsciously, you raised to stand on your toes a bit more, making your stance in your heels that much more precarious. Suddenly, you were spinning. You clutched on to Castiel to stop your fall, but his arms held you without trouble. You gasped as you realized the bastard had dipped you. His head bent down and the moment his lips met yours, a shock went through your system. His lips were softer than you had imagined. After a dizzying moment, he brought you back to standing, but you held him close to keep yourself steady.
Castiel’s voice was thick as he asked “Like that?”
“Yeah” your voice broke. You cleared your throat and shook your head a bit. “Yeah, like that, Cas.”

Whether it’s for a Halloween party or for cosplay, we’ve put together some costume ideas and tips on how to pull off your Good Place Costume! We have provided you with links to lots of options! But remember, dressing up should be fun! Don’t break the bank and don’t compare yourself to anyone else! Go with what works for you!
We’ve included some direct links to purchase similar-looking these items below but depending on when you are ready to purchase, items might sell out or become no longer available.
Eleanor
Eleanor Shellstrop (played by Kristen Bell) is the leader of the soul squad and our favorite Arizona Trashbag! The Worn On TV website does a really great job of collecting information on where to find Screen Accurate information for Eleanor’s outfits. https://wornontv.net/the-good-place/eleanor-shellstrop/. Although Eleanor’s outfits from the show are AMAZING, they aren’t always recognizable as a costume. My recommendation is to check out these more obvious Eleanor outfits from the show! The Clean Energy Crusaders shirt is from when Eleanor tried to make up for being an awful person on her own. The Best Person Black dress, Tiara and Sash are from the rebooted afterlife in which Michael tells her she won the “Best Person” award to try and make Tahani Jealous. The Etsy listing for the Best Person is what we believe (unconfirmed) is the actual screen accurate sash used on the show. You could always make your own sash or order the costume dress from Redbubble. This one is especially fun because you may already have a similar black dress in your closet, and if not, its a dress you can re-wear if you buy it. Also… TIARA! YAY! Before ordering anything online be sure to read the reviews and take a good look at the size chart to ensure you get exactly what you wanted.

Chidi
Chidi (Portrayed by William Jackson Harper) has a wardrobe that consists of an everyday mix of sweater vests and long sleeve dress shirts! He doesn’t have a lot of outfits that make him very recognizable. Much of what Chidi wears can be confused for ordinary everyday attire. If you want to go for recognizable, then I would suggest the Wine shirt he wears at the end of season 3 when he falls apart and starts shopping chili ingredients. A quick stop into your favorite retailer or a search on google or amazon for sweater vests or long sleeve shirts will provide you with plenty of options. I would also suggest taking a philosophy book around as a prop. Maybe a book focused on the work of Kant, Chidi’s favorite philosopher. Perhaps a page ripped out from the book “What we owe to each other“, which is how Eleanor and Chidi were able to find one another. Be sure to read the reviews for any online purchases and take a good look at the size chart before ordering.

Jason
Jason Mendoza a.k.a. Jianyu Li, the Taiwanese monk (Portrayed by Manny Jacinto) is known for wearing tracksuits with a tank underneath, a large chain necklace, and his DJ Music Hat! Those are some of the main outfits that we see him in on the show. Another outfit he is frequently seen in is his monk attire. There are plenty of style tracksuits and color combinations he wears on the show. You could always pay tribute to Jason’s obsession with Blake Bortle and Jacksonville Jaguars. Be sure to read the reviews for any online purchases and take a good look at the size chart before ordering.

Tahani
Our favorite socialite, Tahani Al-Jamil (Portrayed by Jameela Jamil), has the most heavenly (pun intended) outfits on the show! Some of Tahani’s signature styles to keep in mind are her long wavy dark hair with bangs, flowery sundresses, and elegant gowns. You have plenty to work with when trying to dress as Tahani! Luckily you can find similar items for most of what she wears. We can get links to the actual Screen Accurate outfits that Tahani wore on the show at https://wornontv.net/the-good-place/tahani-al-jamil/. If an item is sold out, then use the Worn on TV item names and description to search items want on eBay, Poshmark, Depop App or other online retailers. If you are looking for more affordable and “close enough” looks, then I suggest taking a look at her different outfits from the show and shopping at your local retailers or favorite online websites. Maybe even get a foam ax for wrecking your sister’s art exhibit! We’ve listed some Tahani style wigs for you below! Be sure to read the reviews for any online purchases and take a good look at the size chart before ordering.

Janet
Janet, our favorite Not a Girl (played by D’Arcy Carden), is probably the hardest outfit to get. It seems simple enough, but the outfit is harder to find than you would think. It consists of a purple Vast (waist Coat) and Skirt Set with a white chiffon shirt with a watercolor print. I have personally seen cosplayers using white chiffon shirts and drawing the pattern on by hand. The second most common way to get the blouse is to buy the custom made fabric and make a top for yourself. We have included a painting tutorial as well as options for fabrics below. As always, be sure to read the reviews for any online purchases and take a good look at the size chart before ordering.

Michael
To get a good reformed Demon turned Soul Squad crew member, Michael costume you need a suit, a bow tie, a pocket square, and glasses. The fun part about this costume is that you really can’t go wrong. There are plenty of color combinations and outfits to go with. You can really play around with this. Personally we think the plaid suit is pretty iconic! His glasses tend to be straight on top and round on the bottom, but they aren’t always. We don’t have too many recommendations as to where to find these items. But we included a link to some Grey Hair products. Read instructions carefully before using hair products that may stain clothing!

We couldn’t leave out our favorite Bad Place resident, the Demon Trevor (Portrayed by Adam Scott). He has two very recognizable outfits that we love! Pobody’s Nerfect
According to Urban Dictionary (which is most likely Eleanor’s favorite dictionary), Pobody’s Nerfect is a conciliatory way of saying, “nobody’s perfect” that illustrates the concept. Originated with Cracked and Mad Magazine in the 70s. Eleanor uses it to make people in The Good Place mad and makes shirts with her face on it to try and apologize to the Good Place residents for all the chaos she has caused.

Muffet (Undertale) Costume
How to Make Muffet's Costume from Undertale
Muffet's costume consists of a red puff sleeves shirt decorated with big red bow in front. This top is paired with a pair of pink bloomer shorts and completed with black leggings and black shoes. Cop a pair of purple gloves on both arms. Then stuff two more pairs of these gloves with cotton or paper and attach at the back of the shirt and the shorts to recreate Muffet's extra pairs of hands. Dupatta Reuse Ideas-20+ DIY Ways To Upcycle Your Old Dupattas Outfit Trends - Ideas How to Wear & What to Wear
New Post has been published on https://www.outfittrends.com/dupatta-reuse-ideas/
Dupatta Reuse Ideas-20+ DIY Ways To Upcycle Your Old Dupattas
Over 20 Ways To Reuse a Dupatta: Dupatta is an essential part of the Eastern fashion and is typically worn with Kurtas and Shalwar Kameez. It is a wardrobe staple in countries like India and Pakistan who are all about modest fashion.
These come in a number of designs and fabrics which make them all super unique and attractive. Most commonly they are found in chiffon and silk fabrics with digital prints on them. However, they are also done in the lawn fabric with elements like laces and tassels. With dupattas being an important part of our everyday fashion, we are often left with large collections of them. Instead of letting them lie around in your closet, reuse them in fun ways to create new looks. Wear the same dupatta by contrasting it on a different coloured outfit or stitch it into a fun shirt. Additionally, they can also be styled to meet all the latest fashion trends. Not only are they cost effective but also save you with ample amounts of space within your wardrobes.
How To Reuse Your Old Dupatta?
Here are some tips and tricks to style it:
Pick and choose the right fabric for the right kind of design.
Create fun and youthful looks that match the current trends.
Use accessories like belts to style them.
You can also create accessories out of them like the knot hairband or even a belt.
Experiment with looks creating an Indo-western style.
You can also upcycle a fancy, embroidered dupatta to create different looks.
↓ 22. Quirky Summer Top
This cool and funky black and white top with tie-up sleeves are worth adding to your summer closet. Not only can they make for great casual wear but can also be worn as a fine travel outfit. If you have a lawn dupatta lying around somewhere that is not of your use, consider cutting it out to create a cool top like this one. The leftover cutting can be stitched onto the top for a fun element like the bow-tied sleeves. The top can then be styled with skirts or jeans for a comfortable yet chic style.
Via
↓ 21. Dupatta Cape
Got a wedding event coming up and cannot decide on what to wear? We have you covered. Pull out an embroidered heavy dupatta and convert into a beautiful cape dress like this one. You will never be able to tell it has been made from an existing dupatta. The capes have been in fashion since 2017 now and are frequently incorporated with Eastern outfits as well. This idea can also be used to upcycle bridal outfits that are often pushed to the back of the closets. This style can definitely save you the time and money that would otherwise be spent finding the right kind of embroidery and fabric for an outfit like this.

↓ 20. Saree Blouse
We absolutely adore this colour combination of blue and yellow with hints of rust. If you are bored of wearing the same old blouse with your saree, give it a different look by pairing it with a new blouse. You can use your lawn or silk dupatta with different prints and colours to contrast with a beautiful saree like this one. The blouse can then be reused with a different saree and you will always have a different outfit each time. Another great idea to pull out your mom’s saree and wear it with a fun blouse like this one instead of wearing them with old-fashioned blouses that do not seem to work with the current trends and styles. If you’re into wearing sarees then I highly recommend that you go through these 30 New Saree Blouse Designs 2019 That You Must Try.

↓ 19. Recycle Old Dupatta Into Shrug

↓ 18. Saree Drape
While this may resemble the Saree Pants, it is actually more of a drape that has been made with a Dupatta. The look can easily be sported at formal occasions for a unique and different style. Tucked in at the right side, it goes around the back and worn as a Saree on the front. She has used a tie-dye dupatta in yellow and white to complement her white pants and yellow blouse.

↓ 17. How to Wear Your Mom’s Dupatta
Sridevi’s sudden demise came as a shock for many. We were all disheartened by the news and the focus suddenly shifted to whether Janhvi Kapoor would be able to live up to the same standards or not. While that is debatable, what is not is how gorgeous Janhvi looks in her mom’s dupatta that she was spotted wearing. What is fun to note is how she chose to pair it with a similar white Kurta instead of a different coloured one. If you have similar sentiments attached to your mom’s dupatta and cannot seem to part with it, here is how to use it.
Via
↓ 16. One Dupatta in Two Ways
Take a look at another one of Veronica’s creations that she made out of a blue net dupatta. This piece of creativity does not require any stitching which happens to be the best part about it. We love how the border of the wrap gives the perfect back detailing, something that most tops these days lack.
Via
She wore the same wrap to create a dress out of it, again without any stitching. That helps you use the same wrap in a number of ways without destroying the purpose of it.
Via
↓ 15. Swimwear Cover Up
If you want a bikini cover-up that is affordable yet pretty-looking, this could be your go-to. Any existing stole or wrap could do the purpose by tying one end around the neck, giving the effect of a turtleneck. The other can be tied around the back, to keep it in place and voila, the look is complete.
Via
↓ 14. DIY Dupatta Dress
How beautiful is this blue chiffon dress that has been worn over a shirt with gorgeous neck embroidery? At first glance, we thought of it to be a silver necklace and loved how it looks with the dress. The crepe fabric is something that is occasionally done as traditional wraps and dupattas. If you have one that is not of your use anymore, you could totally put it to use in this creative and fun way. The dress makes for a great party outfit. It can be worn with a blazer or a shrug to experiment with it. If you do not wish to wear it over a similar looking shirt, you could always pair actual silver jewelry to accessorize the look. Additionally, you may try the look by putting it together with the help of some pins and a belt instead of getting it stitched.

↓ 12. Old Dupatta Reuse
Isha Ambani, daughter of India’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani recently wore her mother’s Chunari at her own Wedding. We love the concept of holding on to memories and it has been done worldwide. In the Western world, a lot of brides have chosen to wear their ancestral wedding gowns on their own. Kareena Kapoor Khan wore her mother-in-law, Sharmila Tagore’s, wedding outfit on her own wedding. However, if you do not wish to wear the same outfit yet want to have an element of it, here is how to do it. We love how Isha added the color red to her otherwise white ensemble with her mother’s wedding dupatta.

↓ 11. Kimono
Here are two ideas on how to style a wrap or a stole as either a kimono or a cool wide neck top. The first way is to stitch buttons down the length to give it a look which is a cross between a cape and a kimono. The other is to stitch buttons down the sleeves for a cool look. We love the slit at the arms that gives it a look of a poncho. Both the looks are perfect for the Summer weather and could even be worn to your next Summer travel destination. And to help you rock this style, here are 20 Ways To Dress Up With Kimono Outfits.
Via
↓ 10. Dupatta Turned Into Shirt
Veronica Andrad is a fashion student who has a keen interest in turning old fabrics into some dainty pieces. We love how she picked out an old tie-dye dupatta and stitched it into a chic top that she chose to wear with black pants. The beige and orange combination is a stunning one and the overall look is super affordable yet attractive. A shirt like this would also go well with shawars so have a look at these 18 Best Ways to Wear Patiala Shalwar.
Via
↓ 9. Embellished Skirt
When we first saw this Shivan and Narresh skirt, our first thought was how appropriate the design was to upcycle an existing embellished dupatta. If you have a heavily embroidered dupatta in your trousseau that you would want to re-style, here is how you could do it. You could also wear it to your honeymoon for a boho look. It can be paired with a crop top or a full sleeves gold blouse.
Via
↓ 8. Cropped Skirt
Banarasi fabrics are known to be a huge part of South Asian fashion. They come as Sarees, as well, dupattas for people going the traditional way. A great way to reuse such fabrics is by turning them into stylish skirts, short or long. Since dupattas often come in a length of a little over 2 meters, they can be used to create cropped skirts to wear with trendy tops.
Via
↓ 7. Phulkari Pants
Phulkari is a type of thread embroidery famous in both India and Pakistan. The last couple of years brought back the old trend of Phulkari and we saw a couple of beautifully embroidered dupattas that were sported by celebrities and fashionistas alike. Well, here is a modern take on those dupattas. If you have an old Phulkari dupatta or just wish to turn it into a different piece, here is how to do it. Phulkari trousers/shalwars are the new ‘it’ trend. Pair an Indian Chikankari kurta with these pants for a quick makeover. The outfit can then make for a great casual or even a formal look depending on how it is styled.
Via
↓ 6. Indo-Western Fusion
Did you know you could totally pass by wearing a dupatta over shorts with a belt around? We did not either. We absolutely love this Indo-Western fusion and how effortless this blue and white wrap looks with her overall look.
Via
↓ 5. Gorgeous Pink Wrap-Dress
Here is one of our favorite outfits that could be pulled off with an old dupatta. We love the cross that it is between a dress and a jumpsuit and how glamorous it looks. Wrap around a silk dupatta over a pair of tights and hold it in place with a statement belt like the one in the picture. Style it effortlessly with a pair of tribal earrings and matching stilettos. Similar outfits have been worn by celebrities and fashionistas alike and we are super impressed by the look of it.
Via
↓ 4. Summer Look
Take a look at this super cute and boho style top and skirt. They make for the ultimate Summer beach outfit to pair with some sandals. You can create your own such look by recycling a pair of old dupattas to create a pair of matching top and skirt.
Via
↓ 3. Crop Top
This boho style chic crop top is the kind of Summer look we have all been dreaming of. It can be made of silk, cotton or even chiffon fabrics. They can be worn with skirts, high-waisted jeans and even shorts to create the perfect youthful looks. If you know the basics of tailoring, it should not be a problem creating this super cute top from an old dupatta. However, if you do not know how to do it, you could always ask a tailor to stitch it for you. We are already thinking of a million ways to style this adorable top especially with summer sandals and chunky accessories. For a modest or desi look, you can easily wear the crop top with a skirt or lehnga and even high waisted pants. Be sure to pair the crop top with one of these 25 Cute Ways to Wear Crop Tops This Season.
Via
↓ 2. Romper Style
We love this short romper that is perfect for the warm summer weather. We love the use of vibrant colours and the wide sleeves and how perfectly it has been paired with a couple of cool accessories. Since it has a short length, it can easily be made out of a printed wrap in lawn or cotton fabric with just a few skills at hand. It can also be your next vacation outfit or something to wear to the beach. However, if you are looking for a longer length and something that would resemble a jumpsuit, you could mix and match two separate wraps to get the look.
Via
↓ 1. Saree Pants
We were blown away the minute we saw Mahira Khan walk the New York streets in this exquisite outfit by Sana Safinaz. The outfit, called, Saree Pants, has become a famous choice for many celebrities. Instead of wearing a Saree, the outfit calls for a similar drape that is worn over pants. The colours, prints and the ethereal fabric are all that are making this look so tasteful. If you want to replicate the look, the best way is to do it with a colourful and vibrant silk dupatta and get your own Mahira moment just like that.

13 DIY Couples’ Costume Ideas That Are Better Than Anything You Can Buy In A Store
I love Halloween. I love creepy things. I love parties. I love candy (but not candy corn, gross). And most of all, I love making things. So, it’s pretty much the perfect holiday for someone like me. I spend all year making little notes on my phone of good couples costume ideas and mentally engineering their creation so that by the time fall rolls around, I’m all set and ready to go. But let’s assume that, unlike me, you aren’t a neurotic Halloween lover and you don’t have a ton of DIY couples costume ideas in your phone. Don’t worry, you can have some of mine. Trust me, I’ve got plenty.
So, whether you prefer something cute, sexy, or nightmare-inducing, I’ve figured out how to put it on your bods. Yes, you could just run down to the local costume store, but that’s so boring! That’s how you end up at a party with everyone in the same Harley Quinn and Jack Sparrow costumes. Anyone can buy a costume at the store, but it takes a bit more effort and creativity to make it yourself. And really, don’t you and your partner deserve to win all the contests this year?
Here are some ideas to borrow, or at least to get your creativity flowin’.
1. Baby And Debora From Baby Driver
Giphy
This year’s coolest couple, hands down, are Baby and Debora from Baby Driver. If you have a partner who’s tough to talk into dressing up for Halloween, this is the couples costume he won’t be able to turn down. Who doesn’t want to be a bad ass get away driver? As a bonus, it’s actually really cool stuff you will want to wear year round.
For Debora, you’ll want to find a cute retro waitress dress and pair it with a sheepskin lined denim jacket. The Baby costume is just as easy: You just need the varsity style jacket, a white tee, black wayfarers, jeans, and black shoes. If you really want to complete the look, you can add a scar with with wax. Just make sure not to forget the earbuds!
2. The Fairly Odd Parents
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
Want to be Wanda and Cosmo for Halloween this year? Your wish is my command. This one will take some minor fabrication, but I promise you are totally up for it. For Wanda, you will need a yellow tee, black pants, wings, and pink hair spray. Cosmo’s outfit is just a white button up shirt, black tie, black pants, green hair spray, and, of course, some more fairy wings. That just leaves their fairy crowns and wands. Time to get crafty. To create the crowns, you’ll need small headbands that will blend in your hair, a sheet of yellow foam, and some craft wire. To make the wand, you’ll need some wood dowels painted black, and you can use the leftover foam sheet to make the stars.
3. Yorkie And Kelly from Black Mirror
Netflix
Did you cry like a baby when Black Mirror’s San Junipero episode took home the Emmy for Outstanding Television series this year, too? Yeah, that’s because Yorkie and Kelly are everything, including this year’s queer girl couples costume goals. Unless you want to spend your next month trawling through a million thrift shops to find the perfect blinged-out jacket, the key is to just find modern pieces, which, when accessorized properly, give them an ’80s feel.
To channel Yorkie’s party girl vibe, you’ll need an embellished purple jacket, black corset top, and black harem pants. Top it off with a black oversized bow in the hair. To capture the adorable nerdiness of Kelly, pair a light blue sweatshirt with a pink collared shirt, khaki shorts, and don’t forget the wire-rimmed glasses. Cutest duo ever.
4. Cards Against Humanity
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
Need a last minute costume that is actually awesome? Good news: This one only requires some foam boards and black and white paint pens! If you want to get more interactive, opt for chalkboards and erasable pens. Warning: That can get very dangerous as the night goes on and the drinks are flowing. Hmm, actually, that pretty much describes every game of Cards Against Humanity I’ve ever played, so it’s on theme!
5. Diana Prince And Steve Trevor From Wonder Woman
Warner Bros. Pictures
All I want in life is to be Wonder Woman. Is that too much to ask? Yes, yes, it is, because I don’t have the fabrication skills to create a breast plate. Now her disguise outfit… that’s something I can achieve. Was there anyone more dapper than Diana Prince and Steve Trevor as they made their way through the streets of 1910s London? Nope, and this is how you steal their style this Halloween.
This is not a warm-climate-appropriate costume. Go this route only if your Halloween is going to be on the chilly side. To get the Diana look, you’ll need a wool houndstooth coat, belted. Under the coat, you’ll need a white collared shirt, long skirt, and Victorian style boots. Oh, and don’t forget her sword. Steve’s costume is made of up layers: Start with a turtleneck sweater, topped with a brown leather vest and sheepskin lined coat. Pair all of this with a pair of dark khaki pants and black boots. Top it off with a navy brood hat to really nail the period costume.
6. The Purge
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
Personally, I love a scary costume on Halloween, and what is scarier than the idea of all your friends and neighbors suddenly turning into homicidal maniacs for 12 hours every year? Plus, this costume is great if you’re a procrastinator, because it can be made up almost entirely of things you already have in your wardrobe. Your best bets are something sexy — or ironic — like lingerie, a prom dress, or a tux. To complete the look, you’ll need to make a mask, and there are great tutorials online on how to turn them into Purge masks. And of course, you’ll need your killing spree weapons of choice.
7. Pop Art
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
Another last-minute costume that will still wow at any Halloween party is to turn the two of you into living pop art. There are some great tutorials on YouTube that will walk you through the makeup technique. To complete the look, think retro-inspired comic book clothing, and you can add speech bubbles with a headband, craft wire, and some paper. One last bit of advice: I highly suggest a few practice run throughs before hand. Otherwise your costume might be a living Pinterest fail instead.
8. Dipper And Mabel
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
Is it creepy if your couples costume is made up of a brother and sister? Nah, not when it’s Dipper and Mable. They’re hardly the Lannisters, if you know what I’m sayin’. Anyway, moving on. Here’s how to become Gravity Falls’ greatest mystery solvers. For Dipper, you’ll need an orange t-shirt, blue vest, white socks, black shoes, and grey shorts. To complete the look, you’ll also need his signature hat, and to create that you need a blue trucker hat and some fabric paint to add the little blue tree. You might as well get the whole fabric paint kit, because you’re going to need a few more colors to create Mabel’s rainbow and star turtleneck. The rest of her costume is easy; it’s just a denim skirt, white knee socks, and some black ballet flats. Oh, and her headband too, of course. Cryptids of the Northwest will shiver when they see you coming.
9. Ellie And Grant From Jurassic Park
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
You know who were an awesome couple? Ellie and Grant from Jurassic Park. They were smart, adventurous, and totally went toe-to-toe with prehistoric monsters… and won! Total couples goals. Yes, I know they weren’t together in the sequels, but let’s just make a pact to pretend they never happened, OK? Good. Moving on.
Here is how you can become Ellie and Grant for Halloween. Spoiler alert: Brace for khaki. For Ellie, you’ll need khaki shorts, a blue tank top, a pink button up (tied at the waist), hiking boots, and grey socks. For Grant, khaki pants, a denim shirt, a red bandana tied at the neck, hiking boots, and top it off with a wide brimmed fedora. Oh, and some dinosaur props really tie it all together.
If your boo isn’t really a “Grant type,” there’s always the doctor of chaos himself, Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcom. Just sayin’.
10. Hook And Tinker Bell
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
Who wants to be Peter Pan and Wendy when you can be Tink and Hook? They have all the best accessories anyway. I dunno, I ship ’em. To create a cool Captain Hook, you need a red blazer, white blouse, a hook, and pirate captain’s hat with feathers. To get your Tinker Bell on, you’ll want a green tulle dress and fairy wings. Simple and cute.
11. Pennywise And Georgie From It
Giphy
Did you see It yet? Of course you did — everyone has. Thats because it’s scary as hell. I had nightmares for two nights after I saw it that Pennywise was peeking in my window. How messed up is that? Anyway, that also means it’s going to be a fantastic couples costume if you want to terrorize everyone else at the party. What else is Halloween for, right? The Georgie costume is easy; all you really need a is a hooded yellow rain coat, rain boots, and maybe a paper boat. To create your Pennywise, you’ll need a men’s white ruffled shirt, neck ruff, and pirate style pants. Add red pompoms down the front and on the toes of the shoes. Top it off with a red wig, killer clown makeup, and a red balloon. Why? Because they float. They all float.
12. Nasa And The Stars
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
I love this couples costume, because what is more “meant to be together” than a NASA nerd and the galaxy? It’s sweet and clever and probably mostly already in your closet. Don’t lie — we all bought a galaxy dress in the last few years. Now you get to pull it back out and be the cutest couple at the party. For your astronomy nerd costume, you’ll just need a NASA tee, some nerd glasses (or add tape to yours), and suspenders are a nice touch. The stars really aligned for this costumes. Eh? Nudge, nudge.
13. Rick And Morty From Rick And Morty
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
You’re gonna wubba-dubba-dub-love this costume idea! Want a reason to love Rick and Morty, I mean besides the fact that it’s just stone cold genius? This season they decided to implement gender parity in the writer’s room, and the show has never been better. Plus, when internet jerks decided it would be awesome to doxx those writers, creator Dan Harmon publicly smacked them down. Awesome. OK, now that you are pumped to celebrate all things Rick and Morty, here’s how to achieve the look. For Rick, you’ll need a lab coat, light blue shirt, khaki pants, a wig, and his trusty portal gun. Morty’s costume is a yellow shirt and jeans, but I

//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js

Production Work: The cameras are rolling!
For all of our filming, we used Jin’s Nikon D80 as well as her dolly and slider. The tripod, and external lighting kits were all borrowed from the university.

(Jin’s Canon D80)
General Filming Overview (January 20 2017)
Jin and I had multiple different shoot dates across January and February. Because all of the participants for series 1 were confirmed, we went ahead and shot the interviews for each of them. Jin’s phenomenal camera work managed to capture the interviews using different angels and we positioned each of the participants differently after answering a question. Instead of just placing them in front of a boring white wall, Jin and I tested out various spots for our interviewees to sit in while we filmed them so that the background complimented the video appropriately (see the fonts/colour scheme section down below in postproduction). We shot each of the interviews on our university campus and in different flats of friends we know. While Jin handled the camera, my contribution was to prep the participants and manage the lighting. Several months before shooting we had master classes on both sound and light techniques that we used during our shoot sessions. Brendan Crehan, an industry professional led a workshop to teach us more on the use of diegetic and non-diegetic sound. He helped us prep for interviews and went in depth about various mic placements for effective sound recording. During these classes, Jin and I practiced constructing our shots and used appropriate lighting and microphones to practice setting up for our interviews. As theory suggests, “A lavalier microphone is the small mic you often see attached to the lapel, tie or blouse of news anchors. These small mics are ideal for recording audio from a single individual during an interview or presentation. The pickup pattern of a lav mic is generally omnidirectional, but because it is placed so close to the speaker’s mouth, nominal background noise be unnoticed once the levels are set on the recording device” (Harrington, 2011: 43).
It was clear that we had to use a lav mic for our interviews but Brendan gave us a tutorial of how to use shot gun mics so we could get a feel of how both mics work.
The trickiest part of shooting was trying our best not to capture the background noise. All of our interviews were in locations where there was air conditioning and as a result, the sound that we captured was not as clear as we hoped because of the excessive background noise. Luckily, we managed to fix that in the postproduction stage in Audition. For all of our participant’s interviews, we wanted them to be placed in different backgrounds that had neutral colours. Jin and I had agreed that our film would stick with a certain colour scheme and we wanted to make sure that our footage would gel well with the text on screen. My contribution in the actual shooting of the film was to ensure that the lights and backgrounds were perfect for the shot, placed the microphones onto each of our participants and help Jin by placing the cameras in different angles.
On Set Experience
My experience on set was simply fantastic. I personally found it to be the most fun and I enjoyed seeing my film come together in real time. Jin and I experimented around a little with backgrounds and move things here and there to ensure that we made best use of the space and so that we could get a clearer shot of our participants.
I also suggested to Jin that we should film our participants from different angles as it was one of the features we liked from the above Buzzfeed video and so that our viewers could focus on our interviewees but not get bored of the same exact view. We integrated a bit of theory while onset to help us frame out interview shots. As suggested in Shoot to sell, “staying on the same shot, like a medium shot, of even the most interesting person soon gets boring. If a person is using their hands to communicate, include them, they help tell the story. During more intense or intimate times, slowly zoom in for a drastic effect. Frequently you see the shot framed so that the interviewee is looking not at the viewer but off axis, at the interviewer who is out of the frame. In this case there should be more space in the frame in front of the interviewee’s face than behind their head, otherwise they will look claustrophobic. In other words, they should be looking out of the frame with more room in front” (Smith and Miller, 2012: 133).
We used framing tips to help guide us and set up our camera in order to shoot our participants.
Shooting series 1: We used some of these rules from the above book and found them to be quite useful as they helped us get very good and “not so boring” interview shots. The whole point of series 1 was to instil in the viewers that there is a problem of too much screen time and so focusing in on the interviewees and capturing what they had to say was extremely important. A combination of good angles, strong lighting and neutral backgrounds ensured that we got clean and professional looking footage. Each participant was placed in one spot against a background that we liked for the entire interview. All we simply did was change the angle of the camera so that we captured their responses from different perspectives. However, on set we realised that the air conditioning was a big problem and caused our audio to have a lot of unnecessary background noise despite using good quality lav mics. Unfortunately, one of our interviews with Mariah (one of our participants) was shot outside on a very windy day and as a result, we had to re film her indoors because the sound quality was just terrible. After filming our participants for series 1, we were ready to move into filming series 3. Unfortunately, we still did not find a specialist for series 2 but decided to worry about that only after filming series 3.
Shooting series 3:
Series three was all about alternatives to screen time and we had to travel around London to get good footage to complete this series. Jin and I travelled to: Canary Wharf, Canada Water Library, Southwark Park, Sky Gardens, London bridge and even did a bit of filming in Jin’s flat. Before going out to film, we had made a set list of alternatives to put in the last series and that list generated our list of shots needed. From making tea to going for a run to even exploring local hotspots, Jin and I had a great time going around London to capture and film the various alternatives however, it was a bit more challenging than filming the first series. How so? Jin and I had to film a few scenes outdoors, and the weather along with background noises were all unpredictable. Jin and I planned each outdoor shoot by checking the weather in advance and tried to position ourselves in all of these locations where there were fewer people and cars. We were delighted to know that the footage we captured did not have too much unwanted background noise and since we planned on putting some music on in the background for series 3, we did not have to clean too much of the audio for this series in Audition. My biggest contribution for filming series 3 was organising the locations for the shoot and filming most of the shots at Southwark Park. Jin also introduced some new equipment for us to use while filming: a dolly and a slider. The camera work included moving the camera in unique ways for which we required this apparatus. For instance, one of the alternatives was to visit a local hotspot in the area and so we visited Sky Gardens in London to capture some gorgeous footage of greenery and flowers. We used a slider to capture flowers from inside plant pots and found it to be a successful way of of adding visual creativity to our shots. We also used a dolly as platform on the surface of a rocky concrete floor to create smooth movements of someone posting a letter inside a postbox.
Finally after obtaining footage for series 1 and 3, we were ready to start editing what we had. And.. there was finally hope in finding a specialist.
Shooting series 2:
FINALLY and LUCKILY, a week before moving everything into Premiere, I managed to get in touch with a friend of mine who works for a technology company and has a minor in psychology. He was the perfect person to ask! It was extremely silly of me to have not remembered contacting him before. After very little persuasion, my friend Akash Hirani agreed to be our specialist. We filmed Akash in a meeting room at Landale House in Canada Water, with orange and yellow sofas and the background fit very well with our colour scheme… (see the fonts/colour scheme section down below). We filmed Akash from different angles and I helped brief him on what sort of information we were looking for. I had also set up the lighting kits around Akash because the room in which we filmed him in was fairly dark. Akash gave us some insightful views on what too much screen time does to our eyes and outlined the social, physical and emotional (three subtopics) caused by too much screen time. Each of these subtopics was shot at different angles so that our viewers would not get bored and this way it would give them a three dimensional immersive experience. Jin and I planned to incorporate graphics and icons with each of the subtopics discussed and therefor planned our interview with Akash such that there was a little headroom as well as some empty white wall space in our footage so that we would place these icons smoothly in postproduction.

↓ 16. One Dupatta in Two Ways
Take a look at another one of Veronica’s creations that she made out of a blue net dupatta. This piece of creativity does not require any stitching which happens to be the best part about it. We love how the border of the wrap gives the perfect back detailing, something that most tops these days lack.
